Poster ideas This is an image that i have scanned into the computer. I started doodling a rough idea of what i wanted my poster to look like with my inspiration coming from the new nightmare on elm street trailer http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/images/nightmare-on-elm-st-poster1.jpg as i love the way all the attention is just om this one image there is nothing else to distract and the only other things on there are things to help you find out more information. I want my trailer to follow these conventions and started off thinking with the original image of just the villain in my trailer being on the front of the magazine and poster like the whole of his face/mask and it being dark and so you couldnt quite see it all and then maybe the title or a little date at the bottom of the poster, making sure i kept the same colour theme throughout. Now i think it might be an idea to take the photograph of only an eye or like a part of his hand that is predominant in killing and like the nightmare on elm street does with his fingers (covering most of his face) is bringing us to think that this is his main killing weapon. Id quite like to be able to do this and so the image of the villains face will be not just darkly hidden but hidden by a weapon or his cloak. Like the work i did in AS on my media music magazine and my school magazine i always felt the title of whatever you’re doing should be really bold and placed at the top of the page, this is what i also intend to do with this front cover for the magazine but perhaps not for the poster as the posters that have the big titles dont work as well.In this plan i have done, i have also thought about the ways in which i can arrange the text on the side of the page and written notes to myself on ways to improve the final outcome of my magazine front cover and my movie poster and then done a quick sketch of my villain.
Information on film posters A film poster is used to advertise an up and coming film. There are usually more than one version of the poster per film, which can be in variety of sizes colours or even completely different designs, sometimes different ones can be produces for different countries. They contain an image and a text and this has evolved through time from being just textual posters to posters that are extremely well digitally produced posters, the text written on the posters usually contains the film’s title which can often be placed at the bottom of the paged and often can have the list of actors. It can contain the release date, a tag line the director and the names of the characters i have also seen on some posters that they put the films that the authors have done before so that it encourages you to watch the film if you have liked ones they have made before. Film posters are usually displayed in and out of cinemas and elsewhere in public shops and around streets so that the posters can grab peoples attention in the public eye. The same posters will also appear on the exhibitors pressbook and may appear on the films website, dvds and flyers.
